Saturday marks the half way point to the 2010 season. With a win against the Rhodes College Lynk on Old Gold Day we will take a huge step forward towards repeating as conference champions and earning our second consecutive automatic bid to the NCAA DIII Playoffs. Rhodes is the only other unbeaten team remaining in SCAC action.
Old Gold Day is DePauw’s version of Homecoming. A very nice-sized crowd is expected with the enthusiasm growing for our undefeated Tigers!!!! Kick-off is at the normal starting time of 1:00 EST. Please note the special invite from President Casey posted below.
RECAP: We had a great following as usual make the trip last week to Jackson, MS with an estimated 100+ supporting the football Tigers. With the W we took a “Major” step forward in the scrap for the conference championship. We bloodied a few Millsaps’ noses and dominated the line of scrimmage and time of possession on the road to send a resounding message to the league that we are a force to be reckoned with!!
Last Saturday was also one of those special moments for the team, coaches and families that made the trip. Seeing the sheer (or is it Sherer) excitement in the boys after the game was outstanding. Jonathan Lambert picking up and hugging his father and his mother with pure joy was priceless. Yet, I think these young men know it is just one more building block in their journey towards their ultimate goals. Heal up well boys because the “Rhode” is still long and treacherous!!
As for the tailgate schedule and other activities this week, no real change. We start bright and early about 8:30 for those that can make it. I have had left over mimosas the last two home games. That is unacceptable!!!! TIGER WALK at 10:30. We need more parents there. Try to arrange your trip to be there by 10:30 if at all possible!!!!
Pitch-in in the Back Row both before and after the game. AS ALWAYS - if you cannot make it to the game, PLEASE convey to your young man that they are welcomed to the Back Row following the game. We have plenty of food and beverages to rejuvenate their drained bodies!!!!
>>>Freshmen and new parents we understand that on the weekends where there was a JV game on the same Sunday that there was a home varsity game that most of you understandably elected to attend the JV game. Since there is no JV game this week, please try to make it to the Tiger Walk to support your young man and to the Back Row. We have not met as many of our new family members as we both need to and want. We are going to have name tags to help with introductions!!!!<<<
Remember we are in the midst of a rarity for most of us – back to back home games. Let’s enjoy the opportunity and turn out to cheer and celebrate our undefeated Tigers.
PS - The blog is behind creating a 2010 Folder for game/tailgating pictures and 2010 Player/Family Pictures. Our Blog creator has had some recent complications and simply has had to spend time raising her four children, caring for her house and other work, etc. Eventually she will update and correct. HOWEVER, in the mean time, please look in the 2009 PhotoBucket for this year's game pictures by our own senior parent, Scott Bryson. He has uploaded pictures from every event to date. Please click the link and enter the password "Tigers" to enter the album and review. THANKS SCOTT FOR YOUR GREAT WORK!!!!!!
GO TIGERS!!!!!
