Latest Update Wednesday Evening:
Here is what we are going to get in the way of location from the Centre Facilities Manager: "The designated DePauw Tailgate and Parking Area is midway down Perryville St. on the left between Maple Ave. and Harding St. The area will have yellow blockades with signage indicating the space is designated for DePauw. There are supposed to be 30 to 40 parking spaces there." This area is more than 2-blocks from the stadium, and the 30-40 spaces should handle even the late arrivers!!
Based on my view from Google Map image, this location is north and west of the stadium. For the vets who were there two years ago, this is opposite the large fields on the south side of the stadium where many of us parked.
If you looked at the Centre College Campus Map from their website this map is actually positioned so that more south is at the top of the page and north at the bottom. Our designated lot, although not displayed on the Campus Map, would roughly equate to the far RIGHT of the page, about half-way down the page
Based on 2008, since we need to enter the north side entrance to the stadium, this is not as bad as I thought. Walking to the stadium from the lot, it looks as if we will come down Maple St. past W. Main St, west on W. Walnut St. to Beatty St; and then through campus to the stadium entrance near Sutcliffe Athletic Center.
Last count is 50-53 partaking in BBQ Feast Back Row-style. FANTASTIC!!! If your plans change and you can make it, please know that you are still invited to join us. We will make everything work out. Just bring a dish to share if possible!!!
UPDATE from Tuesday:
1) BBQ Feast Back Row-style at Centre is definitely a GO. Still time to be a part of the festivities, but we need your RSVP by Thursday at the latest. 50 people already are planning to be a part. WHY NOT YOU???????
2) Exact lot location info hopefully will be available some time Wednesday. We have an area designated for DePauw, that is a about a 5-minute walk away from the stadium, but we are not sure of the cross streets.
3) Early birds are planning to start about 4:30.
ORIGINAL POST FROM MONDAY:
Now that we have one successful game under our belt, we take the show on the road for a 7:30 p.m. EST start time vs SCAC foe Centre College in Danville, KY on Saturday. I will be posting more details later.
Daa….we are planning to tailgate prior to the game. I have requested and hope to have information about where Centre would like to steer us to and if there are any other tailgating rules that we need to be aware of. Centre is located in a dry county. We can bring alcohol into the county, but you cannot buy alcohol in the county. Buyer beware!!!
Need feedback ASAP: Scot and Tonya Bryson from nearby Lexington have suggested that to make tailgating life a lot simpler, that they arrange to pick-up some BBQ (chicken/pulled pork, etc.) as our meat dish. This would prevent the need for transporting any grills. We can pitch-in sides, snacks, etc, and simply chip in for the BBQ. A few of us can bring tables, and if the weather forecast dictates, a tent/canopy. I have plenty of paper goods thanks to the Brown’s annual contribution.
If you are currently planning on attending the game, we need your feedback ASAP if this appeals to you? Due to their schedule, Bryson’s have requested that you EMAIL ME at rbranigan21@comcast.net your thoughts and count. You can also simply comment to this blog if you prefer. We need to make a decision by Wednesday so please don’t procrastinate. If travel plans change due to travel team situation we can adjust, but at this moment we need your best guess PLEASE.
GO TIGERS!!!
