TIGER NEWS

Tigers Travel to Gatorland

Congratulations to the Tiger’s for their season opening win against Rose Hulman 23 – 13.  This was one of the only football games I have ever been to where the fans were as sweaty and stinky as the players after the game.

The Tigers will be well rested and ready to face the Allegheny Gators on Saturday September 17th at 1:00 p.m.  The team will be leaving Greencastle at 7:30 a.m. on Friday morning.

Many parents like to stay where the team is and meet on Friday evening for appetizers and light libations.  For those that are driving from Indiana this will work well.  For those flying into Cleveland or Pittsburgh this may not be the most convenient location.

Team Hotel Accommodations:  Hampton North Youngstown 4400 Belmont Ave 330-759-9555

Please remember that the travel squad consists of 52 dressed players for conference away games. The selection of this 52-man team is often not determined until the Thursday afternoon/evening before the travel day on Friday.

For those new Tiger families and friends we do tailgate at the away games.  Since it is harder to travel with grills, easy finger foods like chicken, cheese, crackers, dips etc. work well.   More details to come on the Tiger’s dedicated tailgating spot as soon as we hear back from the Allegheny administration.  As we experienced last week this year will be more of a challenge to find each other since in many cases this is the team’s first time at these facilities.  It is our hope that we all can be together.   Please call one of our cell phones if you can’t find the crowd on game day or if you have any questions.

SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT THE BLOG

2011 has brought many new players to the program. In addition to communicating via this blog it is sometimes necessary to discuss important issues that require a fast response via email.  Please send us your email address so we can get an updated distribution list.

SPORT DRINK DONATIONS REQUESTED

Coach has asked for additional assistance with sport drinks for the road trips and post games. In the past parents have donated a case or two of Gatorade and delivered it directly to the stadium on game day.  Since we don’t have a home game for several weeks Lewis Brown and Mitch Turnbow have volunteered to collect financial donations and do a WalMart run to stock the team up until the first home game.  The players and coaches thank you in advance for your support.  Go Tigers!!!!!!!
