Update Wednesday:
We finally connected with the Administration at Wabash to get clarity on the tailgate set-up. The designated DePauw area is the lot to the south of the Fine Arts Center on Grant St. You can park overnight on Friday. Lots are open; no restrictions on arrivals.
This lot will also serve as the DePauw RV/camper lot. Depending on how many campers are there, will determine how many cars get into this lot. Two-years ago, from memory, there were 2-3 campers and maybe 30 cars. I am anticipating a similar count, possible a camper or two more.
We are going to attempt to recreate the Back Row in this lot. Most of us that park along the last row in the DePauw lot are planning to arrive in time to set-up in this lot. Since we do not control our own destiny, we will give our best to make this happen.
Since there is no lot that will accommodate all the DePauw faithful, our own Buddy Brady who lives in Crawfordsville, has the following info to share. There is a parking area located at 510 South Washington Street next to the railroad tracks that run along the main DePauw lot. Several people park there each year and then walk the 2 blocks to the party central then on down to the game. This is the largest lot around and is very easy to find. For us Hoosiers we would say it is "just north of the tracks on 231 in CV on the East side".
Like we stated previously, plan to arrive early.
We're all looking forward to seeing lots of Gold and Black in Crawfordsville Saturday for the 117th renewal of one of the nation's greatest college football rivalries: The Monon Bell! Please come ready to tailgate and cheer on our Tigers as they not only want to capture the Bell and return it to its rightful place in Greencastle, but complete the undefeated regular season. The competition will be fierce since the Little Giants almost assuredly will not make the DIII Play-offs for the first time in 4-years. This will be their play-off game if the game already did not have a lot at stake!!!
We still do not have definitive confirmation where we will be setting up the Monon version of the Back Row. Speculation based on some info I received from our DePauw Public Safety Personnel is that we will again be in the lot just south of the Fine Arts Building on Grant St. next to the railroad tracks.
This lot is not real spacious and will also house DePauw overnight motor homes. From memory, and that is scary, I would guess there are not more than 30 parking spaces in this lot. The plans at this point are for the cars that traditionally park on the back row at DePauw to get there early to "reserve" and re-create the Back Row. These folks have the grills, tables and pop-up tents/canopies needed to create the DePauw common-area tailgate.
PLEASE KNOW THAT IF YOU NEED TO PARK ELSEWHERE AND WALK INTO THIS AREA ALLLLLLLLLLLLL ARE INVITED and WELCOMED LIKE ALWAYS!!!!! I recall 2-years ago people that could not get into the lot, drivers dropping off coolers, children, elderly, etc. at the entrance and then finding a parking spot and walking back to this area.
Regardless I would plan to get there early due to the parking situation and to take in the excitement. More than 10,000 people are expected in the stadium. Another several hundred simply stay outside and tailgate the entire day. It is an electric atmosphere for the newcomers. ENJOY THE DAY.
Several parents including myself have tickets available for anyone looking for additional tickets. Contact me and I can provide additional info as needed.
