7 Down and 3 To Go

The dream lives!!!!!!!! The heart attack kids have to stop this stuff. On second hand, if the results are W’s, then we will have to deal with the heartburn, nail biting, nerve racking, cardiac arrest…and the wild exhilarating celebrating following.

Just when we thought they could not get any closer than the finish versus Adrian, that was nothing compared to the heroics needed Saturday. Amazing, awesome, miraculous, and incredible don’t fully describe the never give up heroics and emotions associated with our first ever win in San Antonio against the not so well liked Trinity Tigers.

To no surprise, a great crowd followed our undefeated Tigers all the way to San Antonio. I hear roof top tailgating is the new in thing. I sent a request to Page Cotton to look into this phenomenon for our games.

Yes SA is a terrific destination town, but our supporters go everywhere to root on our warriors. If you could not go, I hope you took in the live stream. It was a nice consolation for us that could not go to be able to watch us dominate statistically the entire game, but forced to pull a rabbit out of the hat and the end. I still don’t think the Trinity broadcasters believe what they saw!!

Well it is time to plant our feet back on the solid ground of Greencastle and get back to work. Birmingham-Southern brings their impressive 5-2 record to our play ground this week. They have proven to be very worthy opponents the past several years. With that big 0 on our back, you know they would like nothing more than knock us off our lofty perch. Because they do not qualify for either the conference championship or a tournament bid since they are in the last year of their provisional DIII status since switching from a scholarship providing DII school this could serve as their play-off game besides bragging rights.

We can’t let that happen if we can do anything about. What can we do….be there to show our support and love. Our presence in numbers means a ton to the boys. I have heard it over and over from players and coaches.

As for tailgating the menu, agenda, etc., etc., is the same. As a reminder, the back Row is not the only tailgate spot. We love for you to join us, but there are plenty of other tailgates going on. Just invite family and friends and enjoy the great environment we have at DePauw!!!

Although I sent an email to as many email addresses we had, I am including the same info below for those that we do not have your email.

Page 1: I am passing on info provided by several DePauw students including our own football player Paul Gbur. They are selling Monon shirts that are clean and tastefully done compared to some of the more humorous but potentially rude shirts we have seen in the past for the Monon game. The proceeds are supporting 'Building Tomorrow' which is a philanthropic group at the university which helps out schools in Uganda. It appears to be both a worthwhile cause as well as supporting the team.

The attached flyer (see links below for the flyer) contains both the Face Book link or websites to order depending on your social media expertise. The prices range from $10 for Black “Beat Wabash”, Grey Monon, $12-15, and Black Girls V-Necks @ $15. I understand they will be passing out fliers at the game this weekend, but this gives us parents a heads up.

FYI - I have agreed to be the conduit for passing out the parents purchases.

Page 2: Since they may not have had the full parent email roster I am re-forwarding Linda’s and Deb’s email concerning this years parent spirit/noise maker plans for the Monon:

Hi Everyone. Now that all of our heart rates are back to normal after Saturday's win, it is time to get serious about how to enhance our Tiger team spirit for the Monon Bell game. It is only 19 days away! We have decided to make rally towels and purchase a smaller number of noise makers. There are several ways we are asking for your help.

First we are in need of volunteers to purchase yellow color fabric and cut 12 x 18 " rally towels. Ideally we would have at least 3000 rally towels to hand out to Tiger fans as they enter the stadium on game day. We tried this out with a smaller sample at the Trinity game on Saturday and had a great response. Some chose to wear their rally towels as bracelets or scarves while others waved them proudly. Either way the Tiger side of stadium looked and sounded loud and proud!

Another way to help is to contribute to the donation jar. It will be back on the table in the back row for the next two home games. We still need significant monetary donations to buy enough noise makers to make a difference.

We also need volunteers on game day to help distribute the spirit items to our fans. Two years ago at Wabash, we had several volunteers stationed at the visitors stadium entrance to pass out the spirit items as they walked in the stadium.

Finally, for those families that still have Thunderstix left over from last year please bring them to one of the final two home games (preferably this week) so we know how many we have left.

We thank you in advance for any help you can provide. Please let Deb Evans or myself know how you can help.

Deb's contact info 765-376-3636 or dkevans7@yahoo.com
Linda's contract info: 868-349-3877 or lpbrown591@cox.net

Thanks for being the best fans out there! Let's go beat Wabash and bring home the Bell!!!!!!

GO TIGERS!!!!!!

Roger
